Totnes Furniture Recycling has been operational now for nearly 3 years and services all of the South Hams, supplying to those on benefits.

In the last year we have had 1,800 enquires from people in need of our service and have supplied those people with 2,400 items of furniture. In addition to household furniture, TFR is part of a Devon-wide Lottery Funded Furniture Project consortium which has lottery funded electricians to repair and/or service any electrical items that are donated to us. In the 5 months since this service has been available we have been able to supply 68 items of electrical/white goods.

We have two paid staff; a full time operations manger, and a part time Administrator.

Totnes Furniture Recycling works closely with and is well supported by the local community. We have considerable support from an average of 12 unpaid volunteers. We are working with the Robert Owen Foundation from whom we have a volunteer working with us two days per week. We have also recently taken on our first 'New Deal' placement.

Our expenses, as well as wages, include the cost of running the van which collects and delivers furniture.

TFR is supported by South Hams District Council who amongst others things help with the rent on our property. TFR is also supported by the Rural Development Agency for the South West, a private Trust, the social Services and a number of South Hams Town and Parish Councils.

The demand for our service is still increasing and we would be pleased to receive contributions from members of the public.
